Carol E. Bornhoeft, 57, of Mandan, ND passed away from a heart attack while recently living in Decatur, Alabama.
A memorial service will be held at 9:00 AM Friday, May 13th at St. John's Lutheran Church in Underwood, ND. Inurnment will be held at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Carol was born January 19, 1959 to Ruthie (Pischel) and Norman Torgrimson in Hazen, ND. Carol was their third child. As a young child, her mother Ruthie divorced Norman and married Hilbert Kastrow. During her mother's second marriage, Carol gained two more siblings. Carol attended Underwood Public School until the tenth grade. She held various jobs including working at the Prairie View Nursing Home and the Frontier Restaurant and Lounge in Underwood.
Carol moved to Mandan where she met Robert Bornhoeft. The two of them moved to Bremerton, Washington. The couple got married and gave birth to their daughter Alecia in July 1985. The young family moved back to Underwood, ND in 1987. While living in Underwood, they gave birth to a son, Duane, in November 1988. The family relocated to Mandan, ND.
In July 1995, they suffered the terrible loss of their daughter one week prior to her tenth birthday. Carol, Robert, and Duane continued to live in Mandan, ND until the passing of Robert in the spring of 2015.
Carol moved to Decatur, Alabama with her special friend Steven Haynes. The couple had currently been making wedding arrangements.
Carol is survived by her son, Duane Bornhoeft, Bismarck, ND; fiancé Steven Haynes, Decatur, Alabama; sister, Wanda Holmberg, Underwood, ND; brother, Jerome "Butch" Kastrow, Underwood, ND; two nephews, Mario Smirl, Skagway, Alaska, & Jarrod (Dalayne Long Feather) Kastrow, Mandan, ND; three nieces. Billie (Doug) Nelson, Lincoln, ND, Amanda (Chris Richter) Kastrow, Bismarck, ND, & Amanda (Terry) Bloom, Garrison, ND, as well as great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents (Norman Torgrimson, Ruthie Kastrow, Hilbert Kastrow); her daughter (Alecia Bornhoeft); two brothers (Kelly Torgrimson and Ron Torgrimson).
