Candace "Candy" Gorden, age 58 of Minot, formerly of Wilton, died unexpectedly on July 18, 2012 at her residence.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, July 21st at the First Presbyterian Church in Wilton with Pastor Paul Schauer officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday at Goetz Funeral Home in Washburn with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to time of service at the church.
Candace "Candy" was born November 10, 1953 in Bismarck, ND to Anthony & Delores (Hilken) Duma. Her family lived in Riverdale for a short time where her father worked as a policeman during the construction phase of the Garrison Dam. Candy and her family lived in Wilton until 1971 when they moved to Poway, CA where she worked at a local Jack in the box restaurant. In 1973, Candy moved back to North Dakota. She married Warren Gorden on October 13, 1973 in Wilton. They made their home in Linton, ND where Candy worked as a waitress at Blackie's Café and Warren worked for Linton Sheet Metal. In 1975, they moved to Minot where she worked at Dairy Queen, Skippers, Joey's Only, Osco Drug/CVS Pharmacy, and the last 12 years at ING Minot Service Center as a mailroom specialist. In 1981, they were blessed with a daughter, Nicole, who became the center of their lives.
Candy lived life to the fullest, enjoying time spent with her many friends. She enjoyed going on trips, camping, and boating. She enjoyed caring for children and provided in-home daycare for a short time. She was wonderful with plants and flowers and enjoyed raising them around the deck at her home. Candy also loved to entertain friends and family. Those most special friends include, Sue Fred, Val Power, Bev Asplund, Becky Bubak, & Sandi Duma. She enjoyed playing with her nieces and nephews and loved caring for animals, especially her two dogs "Molly" & "Zoey".
Those grateful to have shared in her life include her husband, Warren Gorden of Minot; daughter, Nicole Gorden of Minot; two brothers, Craig Duma of Wilton, & Tracy Duma of Vista, CA; one sister, Cindy Tesar of Escondido, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother (Delores Duma-Zobel) and father (Anthony Duma).
