Calvin Gerald Nelson, 64, Excelsior, MN died peacefully at his home on March 3, 2017 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. A memorial service in Cal's hometown of Turtle Lake, ND will take place on Tuesday, March 14 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife Nancy, who was Cal's rock and inspiration throughout their 44 year marriage, his children Paul (Heather), Seth (Erika), and Jessica (Wil), grandson Hugo, mother Ruth Nathan, siblings E-Dee, Russ, Boyd, Chuck, Gordy, Kelly, and Pam, and scores of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a wonderful network of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Paul Orval Nelson and step-father Richard Laverne Nathan.
