Obituary

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Bryan Ray Brewer. On Sunday, June 8, 2025, Bryan succumbed to his long battle with health issues and was called to be with our Lord and Savior. Prayer service will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Mercer, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Bryan was born June 8, 1963, the son of Jack and Mary Lou Brewer (Fox). Born and raised in Port Lavaca, Texas, he attended Calhoun High School and graduated in 1981. Bryan spent the majority of his time helping his parents who owned the Indianola Marina at Port Lavaca. After high school he enlisted in the Air Force, followed by a career of offshore drilling, then embarked on an adventure to Africa, and later started a carpentry business. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, catching lobster and frequent hunting trips to Mercer, North Dakota with his father. He adored his family & friends and loved helping people; after moving permanently to Mercer in 2010 he became a volunteer fire fighter with Mercer Rural Fire and an EMR with the Turtle Lake Ambulance.

He met Brenda Blasius, the love of his life, in May of 2016. They shared a passion for hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. Bryan was blessed with a bonus family along with his own two daughters. His children, bonus children, and grandchildren were his pride and joy, taking them fishing, hunting and spending time with them as often as he could. Family nights and telling stories always put a sparkle in his eyes.

Bryan's medical journey started in 2019 when he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer which he survived. Enduring multiple illnesses afterwards, stemming from the cancer treatments themselves, with strength, courage, and a love for life with Brenda right by his side.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Blasius-Brewer of Mercer, ND, his two daughters Katherine Colleen Brewer of Turtle Lake, ND and Seanna Rae Brewer of Victoria, TX, bonus son, Nathan (Lesli) Fiedler of Mercer, ND, bonus daughter Kayla (Josh) Greer of Grand Forks, ND, bonus son Andrew (Amber) Fiedler of Watford City, ND, grandchildren Jackson & Skyler, grandson Baby Ferguson (due Aug 2025), bonus grandchildren Tanner, Kylee, Arabella, Addison & Alaina.

Bryan was preceded in death by his sister, LeaAnn Brewer on May 13, 2008, his mother Mary Lou Brewer (Fox) on February 16, 2009, and his father Jack B. Brewer on October 5, 2016.
