Obituary

Brian Eric Ravnaas, 49, formerly of Turtle Lake, ND, died on April 30, 2024 at his home in Sartell, MN.  A celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, May 10, 2024 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Vetter officiating.  Burial will be in St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery.

Brian was born on August 20, 1974, joining his parents: Orvin and Delores (Jorstad) Ravnaas and a sister, Melanie at the farm.  A brother, Brent joined the family 2 years later.

Brian attended kindergarten through high school at Turtle Lake-Mercer School in Turtle Lake, ND.  Following graduation, he attended college at UND and NDSU to study electrical engineering.  He went into business with his brother, Brent in Fargo.  He developed paint technology that is used in automotive interiors and architectural coatings.   From there he went on to create a viscoelastic damping material (Green Glue) and sound isolation chips used for soundproofing.  That business was purchased by Saint-Gobain in 2008.  Following that sale, he went into the restaurant business in Minnesota.

His biggest passion in life were his children, along with his nieces and nephews.

Brian is survived by his son, Dayton; daughter, Freya; parents: Orvin & Delores Ravnaas; brother, Brent Ravnaas; sister, Melanie Ravnaas; nephews: Tommy, Carson and Soren Ravnaas; nieces: Kyra and Nora Lystlund and Elsa Ravnaas; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Orvin & Ragnhild (Larson) Ravnaas and Alfred & Eunice (Pierce) Jorstad; uncle and aunt: Lui & Carol (Solheim) Ravnaas.
