Boyd Nelson, 73, Max, ND formerly of Turtle Lake, ND died November 29, 2024 at his daughters home in Bismarck of natural causes.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Turtle Lake.  Interment will be held in the spring in the church cemetery.

Boyd was born in Minot, ND on April 8, 1951 the son of Paul and Ruth (Knodel) Nelson. Boyd was an avid outdoors person, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. In his spare time, he loved riding his motorcycle, inventing items and doing maintenance around his home and yard. His greatest enjoyment was the company of his family and friends.

Boyd was a kindhearted family-oriented man, who took pride in his family roots. He was a hardworking, honest, generous, caring gentleman, who was always willing to help another person in need. He will be greatly missed by his beloved family and friends. His warm hugs and stories about the good ole days will be missed by everyone he knew.

Boyd is survived by his daughter, Angela (Curtis) Kraft; stepdaughter, Julie Childs-Cunningham; stepson, Joseph (Jennifer) Childs; his sisters, E-dee (Jerry) Baker and Pamela Helland; his brothers, Russ (Judy) Nelson, Gordon (Evon) Nelson, Chuck (Nori) Nelson and Kelly (Lori Willoughby); a sister-in-law, Nancy Nelson; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He also left behind many distant relatives, friends and other loved ones.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents; parents, Ruth (Richard) Nathan and Paul Orville Nelson; brother, Calvin Nelson; son Richard Nelson.
