Billy Sims, age 64 of Washburn, ND passed away on Monday, July 26th, 2010 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, July 30th at the Washburn United Methodist Church with Pastor Paul Schauer officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at Goetz Funeral Home in Washburn and continue on Friday, one hour prior to time of service at the church.
Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Washburn, with military rites provided by the American Legion Victor B. Wallin Post 12.
Billy was born July 13, 1946 in Underwood, ND to William & Vivian (Hoyer) Sims. He attended school in Washburn and was drafted into the U.S. Army at age nineteen. Billy served in Germany and following his honorable discharge returned to Washburn. He was employed as a Lineman for the IBEW Local 55 for many years. Billy's love of hunting and fishing, which he inherited from his father, was passed down to his children and grandchildren. His love of the great outdoors, music, training dogs, and his appreciation of good friends (of which Billy had many), will be remembered by all those who knew him.
He is survived by two daughters, Kristy (Bill) Reilly, & Tammy (Jon) Chrest, both of Washburn; one son, Larry (Tami) Sims of Washburn; nine grandchildren; one brother, Dennis (Dee) Sims of Bismarck; three sisters, Marlys (Tom) Thompson of Reedpoint, MT, Debbie (Stan) Stelter of Bismarck, & DeAnn (Doug) Yunker of Bismarck; many nieces & nephews, and a special friend, Edie Bower of Washburn.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers (Curt, Ronnie, & Richie), and one grandson (Dylan Sims).
