Obituary

Beverly L. Johnson, age 81 of Turtle Lake, ND died July 8th, 2013 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Turtle Lake.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, July 12th at the United Methodist Church of Turtle Lake with Pastor Peder Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Turtle Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at Goetz Funeral Home in Turtle Lake.

Beverly was born September 27, 1931 in McHenry County, ND to John & Dena (Ebel) Dislevy. She attended school in Kief, ND until the closing of the high school when she was 16 years of age. Beverly completed her high school courses by correspondence through North Dakota State University. In December 1947, she enrolled at Minot State Teachers College and attained a standard teaching certificate in 1949. Bev taught school in Balfour and Anamoose, ND before moving to Turtle Lake in 1953. On December 27, 1961 she was united in marriage to Enander Johnson and she began her life as a farm wife. They were blessed with two daughters, Laurie and Shari. Enander and Beverly retired from farming in the fall of 1992. She was a very active member of the community and enjoyed taking the leadership role in several organizations that included the New Lake Craft Club, the Turtle Lake Study Club, and the local Farm Bureau. Beverly was a member of the United Methodist Church of Turtle Lake and active with the U.M.W. Beverly enjoyed poetry and had written poems for all family milestones and celebratory events. Beverly enjoyed raising flowers, traveling, reading, watching birds, and being the family historian.

Survivors include her two daughters, Laurie (Bill) Kuehn of Turtle Lake, and Shari (partner Lea) Johnson of Blue Bell, PA; two sisters, Georgean (Ralph) Gullickson of Benedict, ND and Karen (Dwight) Jochims of Roseville, CA; two nephews, Jon Jochims and Greg Gullickson; two nieces, Jennifer Holloway and Jana Dimitrov; and several cousins.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Enander in 1995.
