Betty Lou Hultberg age 84 of Coleharbor, ND, died March 24, 2014, in a Bismarck Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11: 00am Saturday, March 29, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Underwood, ND, with the Reverend Dan Voth officiating. Burial will be in the Coleharbor Cemetery, Coleharbor, ND. Visitation will be on Friday March 28, 2014 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the church in Underwood. Visitation will continue for 1 hour before the services at the church on Saturday.

Betty Lou (Pennington) Hultberg was born August 17, 1929 to Earl and Lillian (Halvorson) Pennington. She grew up along the Missouri River. She attended and graduated from the Sanish High School in 1947. That fall she enrolled in the nursing program at Minot State College for six months. Betty then moved over to Trinity School of Nursing and graduated in June of 1950. While attending the nurses program, she met her husband through her roommate, who was his sister. Betty and Harold were married September 30, 1950 at First Lutheran Church in Minot. They lived on the family farm outside of Coleharbor to this date. Betty worked as a Registered Nurse at the Garrison Hospital and at the Prairieview Nursing Home in Underwood. She was one of the first nurses employed at the nursing home when it opened.

Betty enjoyed bird watching, gardening, flowers, sewing and crocheting. She had quite a green thumb and made sure everyone received an afghan, including the great grandchildren. If Betty wasn't crocheting she was busy knitting wash cloths. She was active in the Card Club for many years and was a member of the ladies aid at St. John's Lutheran Church. Betty was always pleasant, never complained and was always willing to help with advice, whether it was family or nursing issues.

She will be greatly missed by her husband of 63 years; Harold of Coleharbor; her children; Ron (Deb) Hultberg, Keller, TX, Gary (RoseAnn) Hultberg, East Grand Forks, MN, Sandy (Bob) Krumwiede, Elk River, MN, Craig (Robin) Hultberg, Coleharbor, ND; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Ardis Donkin, Denver, CO; brothers, Robert (Viola) Pennington and Richard Pennington all of New Town, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lavern, Duane (Bob), Raymond and Jack; one grandson, Eric Hultberg and one great-grandson Christopher Klang. The family prefers memorials to the Coleharbor Cemetery.
