Bertha Ravnaas, age 92 of Turtle Lake, ND, died June 4th, 2013 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Turtle Lake.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, June 7th at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Turtle Lake, with Pastor Randy Emgarten officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to time of service at the church.
Bertha was born December 16, 1920 in Sunnmore, Norway to Erling & Laura (Urke) Berg. She grew up on her parents farm and later worked in different locations in Norway. In 1956, she moved to America to live with her uncle Andrew Berg in Maddock, ND, leaving her immediate family members in Norway. Bertha married John Ravnaas on November 24, 1957 in Washburn, ND. Together they farmed south of Ruso, ND until 1988 when they retired and moved into Turtle Lake. Her son Jimmy and his wife Linda now farm the homestead. Bertha enjoyed sewing and needlework, and made many layettes for World Relief organizations. Her husband John passed away in December 2001. Bertha was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and crafted the altar cloth for the church.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy & Linda Ravnaas of Turtle Lake; three grandchildren, Katherine, Timothy, & Mary; two great-grandchildren, Micah & Imani; one sister, Corhild of Norway; two brothers, Ingebret & Arva, both of Norway; many nieces & nephews; and a special friend, Mandy Schilling of Turtle Lake.
