Beau Zietz, age 19 of Bismarck, formerly of Underwood, ND, died Monday, October 26 at a Bismarck hospital.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, October 30 at the Underwood High School Gymnasium with Rev. Dean Hartley, officiating.
Interment will be at the Underwood Cemetery. A fellowship lunch will follow the graveside service at the Underwood City Hall.
Visitation for Beau's friends and former teammates will be held from 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Underwood. Public visitation will be held from 4:30 PM – 8:00 PM Thursday at the church and will resume Friday, one hour prior to time of service at the school gymnasium.
Beau J. Zietz was born July 1, 1990 in Bismarck, ND to Bob & Deitta (Heger) Zietz. He was raised in Underwood and graduated from Underwood High School in May 2009. Beau loved to hang out with his friends and family and enjoyed going deer hunting. He was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. Beau was very active in Underwood High School extra-curricular programs. He loved playing and listening to music. He was a four year member of the high school band & pep band where he played the drums and earned the 2009 Outstanding Senior Band Member award. He most notably was a member of the Central McLean Cougars football and track teams. He received the honor of playing in the 2009 Shrine Bowl this past July. His athletic achievements awarded him a spot on the 2008 Football All Region 6 First Team (Offensive Line), the 2008 Missouri Valley Football All Conference Team, and the 2009 Track & Field Most Improved Boys award. While in high school, Beau worked at R&S Oil in Underwood during the summer months. Following his graduation in May 2009, he was employed at GRE-Coal Creek Station near Underwood. Beau was accepted into the BSC Power Plant Tech Program and was currently a student at Bismarck State College. He was a member of the BSC Board of Governors. Beau was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church and served as a volunteer on the Underwood Fire, Ambulance, & Rescue Squad. He recently participated in the Guinness Book of World Records longest fire truck parade held in Casselton, ND. Beau is remembered for loving everyone around him and will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends.
He is survived by his parents, Bob & Deitta Zietz of Underwood; one brother, Eric (Jen) Zietz of Milnor, ND; two sisters, Tonya (Nathan) Zochert of Minot, & Janelle Zietz (special friend Jeff Nostdahl) of Bismarck; three nephews, Zachary & Aaron Zietz, and Isaiah Zochert; one niece & godchild, Abby Zochert; grandparents, Tom & Piquetta Heger of Underwood, and Les & Lenore Zietz of Underwood; godparents, Fred & Becki Wilson of Underwood; and numerous aunts, uncles, & cousins.
