Obituary

Anna Hagel, 91, formerly of Washburn, ND died June 1, 2024 at Augusta Place, Bismarck, ND.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 7, 2024 at St. Edwin's Catholic Church, Washburn.  Interment will be held in the Riverview Cemetery, Washburn.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at the church in Washburn.

Anna was born August 24, 1932 at Orrin, ND the daughter of George and Agnes (Goetz) Vetsch.  She was raised on her parent's farm near Orrin.  She attended school at Silva, Fillmore and Washburn Public Schools.  Anna married Edward Hagel of Balta on September 17, 1951 at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Fillmore.  Anna, along with her husband, farmed near Webster, ND then moved to Washburn in 1968.  They owned three businesses before retiring in 1991.  Anna was a member of St. Edwin's Catholic Church where she taught religion classes and was involved in other church activities.  She was a wonderful cook and baker, who passed those skills on to her children.  She enjoyed gardening, reading and embroidery.  Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons, Darald (Karla) Hagel of Bismarck, Mark (Beverly) Hagel of Bicknell, UT, Duane (Kim) Hagel of Bismarck; four daughters, Jacquelyn Hagel of Bismarck, Carol (Lonnie) Lowe of Dent, MN, Kathleen Hagel of Bismarck, Lisa Weigel of Napoleon, ND; her grandchildren, Dara (Pat) Hudson of San Tan Valley, AZ, Amanda (Mike) Simenson of Perham, MN, Jared (Chelsie) Hagel of Bismarck, Adrienne (Matt) Lowe Brito of Bismarck, Ashley (Shawn) Puklich of Napoleon, Brittney (Dallin) Hilton of Henderson, NV and Dyllan and Destinny Hagel of Bismarck; her great grandchildren, MaKennah Haugen, Mariah (Dauntae) Martin, Jacob and Jace Hudson, Brielle and Emrie Hagel, Grant and Annaliese Simenson, Madelyn and Julia Brito, Riley and Brynlee Dewald and Kamden and Paxton Puklich; her brothers, John (Lois) Vetsch of Norwalk, IA and Richard (JoAnn) Vetsch of Laughlin, NV; her sister, Jeanette Bray of Mahnomen, MN and many nieces and nephews.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; two infant children and her brothers, Fred, Daniel, Henry and Kenneth.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested to have a mass offered for the repose of their beloved mother's soul.

Dear Mother, you will be greatly missed by your loving family.  May you be welcomed to paradise by our Risen Lord and all the angels and saints.
