Anna M. Diede, age 98 of Underwood, ND died Friday, February 9, 2007 at the Prairieview Nursing Home in Underwood.

Interment: Mercer Hillside Cemetery - Mercer, ND;
Visitation: 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM Monday at Goetz Funeral Home - Underwood.
Tuesday, 1 hour prior to time of service at the church.

Anna was born October 8, 1908 at Dogden (Butte), ND, the daughter to David Fink Sr. & Margaretha (Dieterle) Fink. She was reared on a farm north of Mercer, ND and attended rural school. She married Joe Diede on Nov. 19, 1928 at McClusky, ND. They made their home on a farm south of Pickardville, ND for many years. In 1943, they moved to Falkirk, ND where Joe managed a grain elevator. They moved to Benedict, ND in 1945 and later to Garrison, ND in 1951. In 1963, Ann & Joe made their final home in Underwood, ND. She worked as a volunteer at the Prairieview Nursing Home while her father (David Fink Sr.) was a resident from 1970 to 1975. Joe Diede, her husband of 50 years, passed away on August 31, 1979. Ann continued to live in Underwood where she was active with the Augustana Lutheran Ladies Aid (WELCA). She enjoyed making quilts for Lutheran World Relief, her friends, and her family. She was an avid country music listener and her favorite song was "You and Me". Ann took great pleasure in motorcycle rides and also enjoyed fishing, crocheting, cooking, baking, and gardening. She became a resident of the Prairieview Nursing Home in January 2007.

She is survived by 3 daughters, JoAnn Smith of Woodland, CA, Marjo Diede of Coleharbor, ND, & Joleen Lehnherr of Underwood, ND; 1 daughter-in-law, Alice Diede of Eaton, CO; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; & 2 great-great grandchildren; 2 foster daughters, Carolyn Berg of Queen Creek, AZ & Patsy (unknown);
1 sister, Olga Sackman of Hettinger, ND; 2 half-sisters, Nettie Smith of Texas & Rose Abbott of Seattle, WA; 1 brother, Daniel Fink of Denver, CO; 2 half-brothers, Carl (Iva) Fink of Bismarck, ND & Willie Fink of Sedro Woolley, WA; 2 sisters-in-law, Olga Fink (David) of Lodi, CA & Clara Diede (Bill) of Marshfield, WI; & several nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son (Wayne Diede),
3 sisters (1 infant), 3 step-sisters, 1 brother, & 1 half-brother.
