Anita L. Schafer, age 64 of Turtle Lake, ND died Wednesday, Dec. 15th at the Community Memorial Hospital in Turtle Lake following a courageous battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, December 20th, 2010 at
St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Turtle Lake, ND with Rev. Frank J. Schuster as celebrant.

Interment will be in the Turtle Lake Cemetery

A Prayer Vigil will be held at 7:00 PM Sunday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church preceded by public visitation at the church starting at 5:00 PM.

Anita Louise (Gondringer) Schafer was born April 17th, 1946 at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND to Bernard and Clara (Panko) Gondringer. She grew up in Turtle Lake, ND where she graduated from Turtle Lake High School in 1964. Following high school, she attended business college in Rapid City, SD. Anita married Larry D. Schafer on July 20th, 1965 at Caledonia, MN. She worked for Verna's Department Store in Turtle Lake for many years as well as the Turtle Lake Community Credit Union.

Anita was the ultimate hostess, enjoying time spent with family and lifelong friends. She loved working in her flower garden, being the Sunshine Lady for her church, and especially enjoyed her granddaughters.

She is survived by her mother, Clara Gondringer of Underwood, ND; son, Clark Schafer of Turtle Lake; son & daughter-in-law, Shawn & Lani Schafer and their children Savannah & Cassidy of Turtle Lake; three sisters, Donna (Art) Burger of Bedford, IN, Kathy Turner of Salt Lake City, UT, & Christine (Henry) McLaughlin of Bismarck; three brothers, Paul Gondringer of Turtle Lake, Tom Gondringer of Turtle Lake, & Bill Gondringer of Grand Forks.

She was preceded in death by her husband (Larry), and her father (Bernard).
