Amanda Bentz, age 91 of Dickinson, ND, formerly of Turtle Lake, died Monday, October 15, 2012 at a Killdeer nursing home.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 18th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake with Pastor Betty J. Stedman officiating. Burial will follow in the Turtle Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12 Noon to 2:00 PM Thursday at the church.
Amanda was born September 6, 1921 in Wilton, ND to Frederick & Regina (Berg) Wagner. She attended school in Wilton through the 8th grade. Amanda married Reuben C. Bentz on March 2, 1941 in Mercer, ND. Together they raised three children and farmed north of Mercer. Amanda was a hard worker and took great care of her family. In 1962, she and Reuben moved to Turtle Lake. Reuben passed away in September 1984. She enjoyed fishing at the canal with her friends and socializing over coffee at the local bowling alley. She also enjoyed baking, reading, & solving word-find books. Amanda loved children and greatly enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren. In 1997, Amanda moved to Dickinson to live with her son William. She loved to receive cards and pictures from her great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family.
Those grateful to have shared in her life are her two sons, William of Dickinson, and Charles (Margaret) of Bismarck; one sister, Erna (Howard) Menta of Santa Clara, CA; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 6 step great-grandchildren, and 1 step great-great grandchild.
Amanda was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Reuben), one daughter (Marjorie), one grandson (Brian Hoff), three brothers (Ernie, Rudy, & Herbert), & one sister (Frieda).
