Alvin Schilling, age 86 of Turtle Lake, ND, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at a Bismarck hospital.

Visitation: 3:00-9:00 PM Friday at Goetz Funeral Home - Turtle Lake
Saturday, 1 hour prior to time of service at the church;
Alvin was born January 25, 1921 at rural Turtle Lake, ND, the son to Israel & Mathilda (Uhlich) Schilling. He was baptized on February 27, 1921 at the St. John's Lutheran Church of rural Turtle Lake. Alvin attended country school through the 8th grade and was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church on July 19, 1936. He married Magdelene "Mandy" Bye on October 25, 1955 at the Peace Lutheran Church parsonage in Turtle Lake. The couple farmed and ranched near Turtle Lake until Alvin's retirement in the fall of 1985. Following a lifetime of farming, he and Mandy moved into Turtle Lake where he enjoyed his retirement years. Alvin was a long time member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and enjoyed watching Atlanta Braves baseball, Class B boys and girls basketball, and listening to county western music.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Magdelene "Mandy" Schilling of Turtle Lake;
one son, Kelly Schilling of Bismarck; two daughters, Valerie (Leon) Guenthner of Turtle Lake, & Colette Schilling (friend Darwin Reinhardt) of Bismarck; five grandchildren, Jesse & Joshua Tschaikowsky of Bismarck, Travis, Calvin, & Taylor Kraft of Casselton, ND; two step-grandchildren, Jennifer (Jamie) Schauer of Washburn, and Travis Guenthner of Arizona; four step-great grandchildren; one brother, Emil Schilling of Minot; and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his infant son (Boyd Allan), his parents, one sister (Olga), & three brothers (Jacob, Albert, & John).
