Alvin Hirschkorn, age 73 of Turtle Lake, ND, left us April 30, 2009. He passed away at Community Memorial Hospital in Turtle Lake.

Visitation: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM Monday at Goetz Funeral Home – Turtle Lake;
Tuesday, one hour prior to time of service at the church.
Alvin was born April 16, 1936 near Harvey, ND to Robert and Amalia (Hintz) Hirschkorn. He was raised on the family farm where he attended rural school and farmed with his father. At age 20, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the family farm and continued farming until 1962. On June 24, 1962 he married the love of his life, Erika Geigle, in Turtle Lake. Alvin and Erika resided in Turtle Lake for 45 years. Alvin worked as an electrical lineman and heavy equipment engineer. He retired after 20 years of employment with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Riverdale, ND. Alvin was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoying everything outdoors, including gardening and various home projects. He also cherished his time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Stories about past hunting and fishing experiences energized Alvin and were relived every season bringing a smile to his face and joy to his heart. Alvin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He also served as a past officer of the Turtle Lake American Legion Post 133. Alvin was a member of the Turtle Lake Lions, and was an active member of the local café "coffee crew." Alvin will be greatly missed but Never Forgotten!
Alvin is survived by loving family members, his wife of 46 years, Erika Hirschkorn of Turtle Lake; five children; Paul Hirschkorn of Turtle Lake, Lori (Dale) Sorenson of Underwood, David (Toni) Hirschkorn of Fargo, Christi (Darin) Tweeten of Bismarck, and John Hirschkorn of Burnsville, MN; Six grandchildren, Steven, Shayla, Rochelle and Ranae Sorenson, Jacklyn and Jordan Tweeten; three sisters, Adeline (Lee) Heutmaker of Edina, MN, MaryAnn (Dan) Ripplinger of Highland Ranch, CO, and Janice DeKrey of Bismarck; & one brother, Don Hirschkorn of Harvey.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters (Viola Martin, Lorraine Clause, Verna Piatz, Agnes Theige, & Doris Folsum), and three brothers (Norman, Marvin and Dennis Hirschkorn).
