Alma Strecker, age 90 of Underwood, formerly of Bismarck, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Aug. 31 at the Prairieview Nursing Home in Underwood.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, Sept. 4 at Cornerstone Community Church in Bismarck with Pastor Keith Ritchie officiating.
Interment will be at 12 Noon Friday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, south of Mandan.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to time of service at the church.
Alma was born July 26, 1919 at rural Turtle Lake, ND, a daughter to John & Mary (Vossler) Bietz. She attended school in Turtle Lake and at the age of 22 married Leo E. Strecker of rural Washburn. Leo and Alma were united in marriage on September 28, 1941 in Underwood. Leo and Alma resided in Underwood where she was an active member of the Underwood Baptist Church for many years. Alma taught Sunday School for over thirty years and was involved with the Ladies Aid group. They moved to Bismarck in December 1994 and became members of Cornerstone Community Church. Leo passed away in November 2006 and she lived with her son in Bismarck for a short time before entering the Prairieview Nursing Home in May 2008. Alma enjoyed embroidery and loved to grow flower and vegetable gardens. She also enjoyed babysitting her only granddaughter, Melissa. Alma is remembered for her excellent German cooking and her delight in entertaining people at her home.
Alma is survived by one daughter, Karen (Curtis) Nutz of Queen Creek, AZ; one son, Alan (Judy) Strecker of Bismarck; one granddaughter, Melissa (Jason) Karlovic of Queen Creek, AZ; one great-grandson, Jack Curtis Karlovic; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Strecker of Spokane, WA & Joyce Strecker of Clarksville, TN; and four nephews, Leon, Arlie, Curtis, & Jim.
She was preceded in death by her husband (Leo), one brother (Otto), & one sister (Freida).
