Aleda was born November 16, 1919 in Conklin Township, rural Washburn, ND to John & Alma (Youngquist) Yunker. She attended country school in Conklin Township. She married F. Frank Martin on Dec. 16, 1939 in Washburn. They made their home in Underwood where Aleda worked at Wenger's Meat Market, Olson's Hardware Store, and the Park Inn Restaurant. While employed with these area businesses, she played an essential role in the daily operations of each business. She painted homes in Riverdale, ND during the construction phase of the Garrison Dam and also drove school bus for the Underwood Public School for many years. Aleda will be remembered for being a "jack-of-all trades". She had the ability to fix nearly anything and often carried a variety of tools and miscellaneous "fix-it" gear in her purse. Aleda enjoyed card games and was very good at them. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling, fishing, and hunting, even shooting a bear at one time. Her older years brought on her love for crafts and attending craft shows. Aleda was a longtime member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Underwood. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and will be remembered for her kindness and endearment towards others.

She is survived by one son, Jim (Marg) Martin of Underwood; one daughter, Ruby Jane (Denny) Portra of Underwood; son-in-law, Mike Wilson of Pella, IA; 11 grandchildren & 23 great-grandchildren; one sister, Agnes Keck of Oregon; and many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband (Frank), one son (Franklin), one daughter (Barbara), one grandson (Pat Martin), one granddaughter-in-law (Joan Wilson), three brothers (Clarence, Edward, & Roy), & five sisters (Anna, Alice, Abigail "Gail", Ada, & Alpha).
