Albert E. Fylling, age 79 of Turtle Lake, ND, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2008 at his home in Turtle Lake.

St. Olaf Lutheran Church - rural Turtle Lake, ND;
Rev. Randy Emgarten, Officiating

Interment: St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery

Visitation: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM Monday at Goetz Funeral Home – Turtle Lake;
Tuesday, one hour prior to time of service at the church.

Albert Elias Fylling was born December 3, 1928 on the family farm south of Ruso, ND, to Olaf & Anna (Eliason) Fylling. He attended rural school at the Greatstone Township School near Ruso. Albert married Selma Knodel on February 2, 1951 in Turtle Lake, ND. They lived and farmed on the family homestead eleven miles south of Ruso until 2002 when they moved to Turtle Lake. Albert was a life-long member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and served on the church council for several years. He served on the Board of Directors for the Farmers Union Oil Company in Turtle Lake and on the Greatstone Township Board. Albert took special pride in his cattle and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting pool. He especially cherished spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Selma Fylling of Turtle Lake; 4 sons, Rodney Fylling (Mindee Thuney) of Ruso, Bryon (Laura) Fylling of Turtle Lake, Arlin (Annie) Fylling of McClusky, & Steven (Brenda) Fylling of Ruso; 4 daughters, Kathie O'Day of Moorhead, MN, Sandra Schneider of Big Lake, MN, Claudia Nelson of Garrison, & Naomi (John) Thompson of Wilton; 18 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Edward (Polly) Fylling of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Alice (George) Anderson of Louisiana, & Lillian Richardson of Illinois; and many nieces & nephews.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, 6 sisters, & 1 granddaughter.
