Adeline Gessele, age 89 of Bismarck, ND, formerly of Washburn, ND, died Saturday, March 24, 2007 at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center where she has been a resident since 1999.

Visitation: Tuesday, 1 hour prior to time of service at the church.

Adeline was born January 28, 1918 at McClusky, ND the daughter to John & Lydia (Oswald) Werner. She lived on the family farm and attended rural school north of McClusky. Adeline married Henry E. Gessele on August 26, 1938 at McClusky, ND. The couple farmed and ranched near Mercer, ND until 1952 when they moved to Washburn, ND. In 1961, they purchased a farm west of Washburn where they farmed and ranched until 1994. Henry passed away July 5, 1994. Adeline made her home in Washburn until moving to Bismarck in 1999. She worked at various businesses in Washburn that include the Red Fox Café, the Washburn Senior Center, the McLean County Museum, and the Washburn Library. Adeline and Henry also opened their home to several foster children. She was a long time member of the Washburn Baptist Church and served with the W.M.F. group (Ladies Aid).

She is survived by one son, Ronald (Connie Hoyer) Gessele of Bismarck, ND;
one daughter, Charelette (Chris) Holwagner of Center, ND;
five grandchildren, Kelly (Tracy) Holwagner of West Fargo, ND, Kyle (Jeannene) Holwagner of Bismarck, ND, Jason (Lydia) Gessele of Harvey, ND, Diedra (Keith) Lange of Center, ND, Bob Gessele of Bismarck, ND; & 16 great grandchildren;
one brother, Fred Werner of Bismarck, ND; & two sisters, Alvina Krein of McClusky, ND & Ellen Waltz of Phoenix, AZ.

Adeline was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Henry), & nine brothers.
