Adele Sayler, age 80 of Bismarck, formerly of Washburn, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at a Bismarck hospital.


Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, Jan. 2nd, 2013 at the Washburn United Methodist Church with Pastor Peder Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Underwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, Jan. 1st at Goetz Funeral Home in Washburn.

Adele was born April 28, 1932 at rural Werner, ND to Peter & Clara (Pollestad) Nodland. She attended rural school near Werner. Adele married John D. Sayler on Feb. 24, 1957 at Underwood. They resided on a farm southwest of Underwood for many years where they raised seven children. Adele was a homemaker and worked as a cook at several local restaurants over the years. They moved to Washburn in 1995 and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, baking, and cooking. Adele will be remembered for her tasty butterhorns, breads, and brownies, among many other family favorites. Adele & John celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in February 2007. John passed away in November 2007 and she moved to Bismarck to be closer to her family. Adele was a member of the Washburn United Methodist Church. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and close friends, especially her sister, Bernice.

She is survived by six sons, Paul (Dawn) of Hazen, John E. (JoDee) of Bismarck, Peter (Sandy) of Hettinger, Daniel (Denice) of Dickinson, Matthew of Mandan, & Mark (Sheri) of Lincoln, ND; one daughter, Ruth Reberg of Bismarck; one sister, Bernice Fisher of Bismarck; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, & step-grandchildren.

Adele was preceded in death by her parents, husband (John D.), three brothers (Arnold, Clinton & Bernard), one sister (Shirley), and one son-in-law (Tim).
